  • Are you embarrassed to smile?
  • Not sure what can be done with your smile?
  • Afraid or anxious to go to the dentist?

We believe in comfort and function before cosmetic dentistry

How your dentist treats your oral health affects your smile, how you look and feel, as well as aspects of your oral health and overall health. Because we use advanced skills and technology in our practice, we understand why treatments can fail or don’t last. Therefore, we believe in comfort and function above cosmetic dentistry.
Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to dental procedures that improve the appearance of a person’s teeth, gums and/or bite but does not necessarily improve comfort or function. Examples of common cosmetic procedures include whitening, bonding, bridges, crowns, and veneers.

At John F. Robison, DMD, our focus is first on the fundamental principles of your bite and it’s function and harmony with your joints, muscles and teeth. This helps us ensure predictable results for all other treatment or procedures.

We believe in open and honest communication

We want our patients to know and feel that we care about them and that they are truly part of our dental family. In fact we treat our patients as we would any of our own family members. What is important in our patient relationships is having honest and open communication. This means we will take the time to listen to your wants and needs and offer you more than one treatment option to consider. Then we will work with you to help you decide the best course of action for you.

We believe you should have your teeth for life

When we say our long term patients haven’t needed much dental work, it’s true. Because they have been part of our dental family for years and allowed us to care for their oral health, we have saved them from extensive dental work and costly procedures.

Saving teeth and keeping them for life is one of our missions. No matter where you are on your oral health journey, we are certain we can help improve your oral health and inconjunciton your overall health and wellness.

I now reside 90 miles away and do not hesitate to make the two-hour drive for my dental visits. Dr. Robison and his talented team always provide services with cutting-edge technologies. He has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and performed at a level beyond my expectations by incorporating professional development efforts to remain knowledgeable about new industry developments. Additionally, I am very impressed with the safety protocols implemented to provide for the security of patients during the COVID pandemic and beyond. The special care they provided assures a safe environment for patients and staff. Without reservation, I would provide my strongest personal recommendation for Dr. Robison and his team.”

LeRoy D. Kline, Jr.

“Wow, what an incredible office!!!

Dr. Robison and his dental team are the best. I have known Dr. Robison for many years and am very impressed by his attention to detail. Everybody loves him. Carol and Erica are great hygienists, they provide excellent care to the patients. Annette is a wonderful assistant. She is so comforting to the patients and knows exactly what the doctor needs before they need to ask. Amber is the bright smile at the front desk who takes care of all the financial and appointment stuff. It’s a great office. I understand why everyone loves this group.”

Ed Rektorik

“The entire staff is very professional, knowledgeable, welcoming, kind, and compassionate.

During my first visits to thorough exams, Dr. John explained procedures and answered my questions. He and his staff relieved my anxieties with reassurances regarding questions of scheduling of procedures and financial concerns. I especially want to commend them on two extractions, very gentle, yet firm in doing the extractions. I did not experience much pain and did not have any complications. He excellently explained the process before and during the surgery. I strongly recommend Dr. Robison as well as the entire staff.”

Meet Your Dentist — Dr. John F. Robison

Our dental practice was founded in 1904 by my grandfather, Fred A. Robison, DDS, right here in State College, PA. Following in his father’s footsteps was my father, D. Ronald L. Robison who joined the practice in 1927. Two years before my father retired in 1980, I joined the practice. Not many dental practices can say they have been around for over 117 years!

Growing up and being a part of the State College community for all of my life has provided me with amazing memories and wonderful friendships. In fact, I had the opportunity to serve some of my grandfather’s patients (and my father’s patients, to this day). It has truly been an honor to be of service to so many people whom I call friends in the State College area.

Continuing education and learning the latest skills and techniques in dentistry is very important me in my service to our patients. I have been a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) since 1978, received Fellowship from the AGD in 1989, and in 1998 became Master of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Achieving Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry is one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can achieve. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is the only professional association exclusively serving the interests and needs of the general dentist. To earn Mastership in the AGD, dentists must take more than 1,100 hours of educational courses in various disciplines. The award is then presented to general dentists in a formal ceremony. I am fortunate to be one of the less than 1 percent of general dentists who have achieved this honor. To learn more about this award or the AGD, visit www.agd.org.

In 2009 at the AGD Annual Meeting in Baltimore they awarded me the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition award, a distinction that humbled me.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Peggy, our four children and our four grandchildren. Family is a blessing to me and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

High Standards

A standard of excellence in personalized dental care enables us to provide the quality dental services our patients deserve. We provide comprehensive treatment planning and use restorative and cosmetic dentistry to achieve your optimal dental health. Should a dental emergency occur, we make every effort to see and care for you as soon as possible.

N

Education & Prevention

As a practice, we are true believers that preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide “dental health care” vs. “disease care”. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

N

Uncompromising Safety

Infection control in our office is very important to us and our patient’s safety. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes exceeding the standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

N

Training & Expertise

As your dental health professionals, we want you to be confident knowing that we are a team of highly trained and skilled clinicians. We pride ourselves in providing the care you need to keep your smile healthy. To give you the best possible service and results, we are committed to continual education and learning. We attend dental lectures, meetings, and dental conventions to stay informed of new techniques, the latest products, and the newest equipment that a modern dental office can utilize to provide state-of-the-art dental care. Also, being members of various professional dental associations helps us to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for our profession.

N

A Positive Experience

Building a foundation of trust by treating our patients as special individuals who are part of our dental family is vital to our success. We understand how uneasy some patients may feel about visiting the dentist, and how we can make a difference in providing a relaxing and positive experience. Our entire team is dedicated to providing you with excellent, personalized care and service to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

We thank you for allowing us to take care of your dental needs and look forward to serving you.
